The city of Tuamasina is the economic capital of Madagascar. It offers various activities for young and old. The younger ones will appreciate the surrounding parks, rickshaws and ATVs, as well as beach soccer games. On the other hand, older people will enjoy cultural visits, bars and nightclubs. There is something for everyone here: Ivoloyna Park for nature lovers, Manda Fort for culture lovers, full points for white sand beach lovers and Mahambo for surfers.
…day and night!
During the day, enjoy relaxing outdoors, from dawn to the sunset market bazaar. At night, have fun on the promenade to sample local beef kebabs before heading to bars and nightclubs in the city center where you will dance until dawn.
Tuamasina is a crossing point in the Indian Ocean and has retained many remains from the 19th century. You can visit a city with a rich history. You can find out more at one of its museums or on the pedestrian streets that have kept the story. You can also take a rickshaw to the famous Bazar Keli and Bazar Be markets.
Mahambo is a seaside resort a few kilometers from Tuamasina, where beginners and experienced surfers meet. Either under the supervision of professionals, or alone, you can surf in this well-known place because of its waves, as well as because of the reef barrier that ensures the absence of sharks.
Mahambo is also far from the bustle of the city, so you will have a calm mood conducive to surfing.
For cultural visits, take a tour of the historic site of Fort Manda, the Port Museum or the University Museum.
