Marojejy National Park tour

Marujejy National Park is an incredible place, including the wildest areas of Madagascar, which are not found anywhere else on Earth! Rainforests, jungle, various plants, unique animals and high steep cliffs you can see only here in the national park. This is an impressive place in the whole of Madagascar in the north-east of the island. Local residents have preserved and left nature untouched, namely the same as it was 200-300 years ago !! Due to the unsurpassed diversity of species of unique animals and plants, as well as stunning landscapes that can not leave anyone indifferent, the park was included in the UNESCO World Heritage List

Marujejy is one of the smallest spaces in the world where every tourist can experience the impenetrable tropical jungle covered by vineyards, to the alpine tundra in a relatively short trip. Lovers of mountains and wild places will like this place.

Marujejy Park is open all year, regardless of weather conditions. Those who wish can stay here at night in wooden houses with their own kitchen, toilet and shower. The company takes responsibility for tickets to the park and other necessary services for visiting the park. When planning to visit this park, take care of comfortable clothes and shoes, as well as repellents, hats and water. We suggest that you take 3 excursions along specially designed routes: Mantella (450 m high), Marujouji (775 m high) and Simpon (1250 m high above sea level). These routes differ not only in height but also in complexity.

Depending on the height and microclimate of the Marujejy Park, vegetation is variable. You can see more than 2000 species of rare trees, shrubs, etc.

In total, 4 different zones are distinguished:

  1. Plain. This area is well protected from the winds, is located at an altitude of 800 m. It is also characterized by heavy rains. In this part you will meet epiphytes, bamboo, wild ginger, palm trees.
  2. Mountain rainforest. It is located at an altitude of 800-1400 m. The soil in this area is not very fertile due to lower temperatures. But here tree-like ferns, madder, myrtle, euphorbia and pandanus plants grow here.
  3. Mountain forests. They occupy the smallest territory, since they are at the level of 1400-1800 m. Sclerophytes grow here – these are drought-resistant plants, well adapted for living in arid areas.
  4. Alpine region – has the highest location – above 1800 m. Here you can see rare species, for example, a rosewood, which is not only medicinal, but also at the time of flowering is incredibly beautiful because of its unusual color.
